Travelling sucks less when you actually meet real travellers, people who’ve organised their life in a way that will allow them to travel most of the time.
For a few months we’ve been registered with WarmShowers and so far we’ve hosted Juan, from Chile, travelling from Germany to Spain, and Tomás, from Argentina, travelling exactly in the opposite direction.
It’s been fascinating to hear their insights about their countries’ political and social situation and their travelling experiences. Both have in common the idea than one should work only to save enough money for the next trip, and that’s what they usually do: work for a couple of months, save some cash and go on their bikes.

It’s a humbling experience to talk to people who are ready to leave everything behind and suffer the loneliness and the pain of travelling in order to follow their impulses or dreams. Some of their anecdotes are a bit scary, but in general their stories are amazing and inspiring.
I started this blog as a cure for my fears and I’m slowly starting to realise I might be privileged to be offered this chance to become a traveller.
